February 10, 2009 Troy University Theatre presents "The Laramie Project" TROY – Troy University’s College of Communication and Fine Arts and the Department of Theatre and Dance will present “The Laramie Project” Feb. 11-14 and Feb. 17-20 in the Upstairs Theatre in Malone Hall.Based on the true story of Matthew Shepard, a 21 year-old University of Wyoming student who was kidnapped, beaten and left to die tied to a fence in Laramie, Wy., the play is based on the more than 200 interviews with the people of Laramie by the Tectnic Theatre Project and Moises Kaufman. “The play is a breathtaking theatrical collage that explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the heights of compassion to which we are capable,” said Adena Moree, director of theatre and dance . “This is a deeply moving theatrical experience.” The play begins at 7:30 p.m. each day of performance and tickets are available in the Trojan Center Box Office for $5.
