February 12, 2009 TROY student to sing in Times Square Friday as part of Valentine's Day competition TROY—Troy University student Josh Johnson is headed to New York City, where he will compete Friday as a finalist in a national contest with a chance to win a prize worth more than $20,000.Johnson, a senior music industry major from Florala, is one of five national finalists in the Zale’s Jewelers “Profess Your Love Contest,” co-sponsored by the Times Square Alliance. Entrants were asked to submit, in 250 words or less - in written, video or musical form – “their most sincere, original, creative and eloquent profession of love.” Johnson submitted an original song for his entry, which he will perform for a panel of judges on Friday. The grand prize winner will receive a 2 CT. princess-cut celebration diamond ring valued at $21,995. Johnson has been a member of the percussion section of the Sound of the Sound Marching Band and the Symphony Band. Contact: |
