March 27, 2009 "The Fantasticks" set to appear on Troy University stage TROY -- The longest running musical in history is coming to the Troy University stage. “The Fantasticks”, which has book and lyrics by Tom Jones and music by Harvey Schmidt, remained a New York institution on Broadway for nearly 42 years.The show runs April 16, 17 and 18 at 7:30 p.m. nightly and on the April 19 at 2:30 p.m. in the Trojan Center Theatre. “The Fantasticks” has been called the perfect musical, said Adena Moree, director of theatre and dance at the University. “The deceptively simple story follows a young couple and their fathers who try to get them together by keeping them apart. The show is a timeless, magical tale of love and the pain of growing up. It’s a beautifully crafted theatrical experience that audiences have loved time and again,” she said.
