Mr. Kenneth Coleman to deliver Commencement Address at Troy University
MONTGOMERY - Mr. Kenneth Coleman, Vice President of the Southern
Division for Alabama Power Company, will deliver the keynote address at Troy
University’s Montgomery Campus commencement ceremony at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 18 in the Davis Theatre for Performing Arts on the University’s Montgomery Campus.
Prior to joining Southern Company, Mr. Coleman served as Director of Business
Development for the Metropolitan Development Board (MDB) in Birmingham, Alabama.He also played professional baseball for seven years in both the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cubs organizations, reaching as high as the “AAA” level. Two of those years included seasons with the “AA” Birmingham Barons Baseball Club, where he was a member of the 1994 team that included Michael Jordan. After retiring from baseball, he spent seven years serving as a guest radio and television analyst for the Barons’ broadcasts.
Mr. Coleman is very active in his community. He currently serves on the Board of
Directors for the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce, Montgomery Metro YMCA, Colonial Bank and the Capital City Club of Montgomery. He is a member of the Montgomery Area Committee of 100 and serves on the advisory boards of UAB Montgomery and the Junior League of Montgomery. Also, he serves as Chairman of the Montgomery Convention and Visitor’s Bureau Advisory Council.
Mr. Coleman was born in Jersey City, NJ. He earned a bachelor’s degree in
communication from the University of New Haven in West Haven, Connecticut and a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from the University of Alabama. Mr. Coleman and his wife, Dr. Prentiss Coleman, have two sons, Kamden (age 4) and Kyle (age 2) and they reside in Montgomery, Alabama.
