Miss Troy University Pageant set for Sunday

TROY—The 38th Annual Miss Troy University Scholarship Pageant will be held Sunday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m. in Claudia Crosby Theater. Ticket booths open at 1:30 p.m. Adult admission is $10 and student admission is $5.

The winner will serve as an ambassador for the university and will compete for the title of Miss Alabama in June.

The following students are competing for the title of Miss Troy University:

  • Samantha Burrill, a junior business/information systems major from Albertville, is sponsored by Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Her platform is “Keeping Arts in School.”
  • Laura Cobb, a sophomore graphic design major from Prattville, is sponsored by her parents and the Wesley Foundation. Her platform is “Reviving Manners in Our Modern World.”
  • Allison Farrington, a senior science education major from Andalusia, is sponsored by her parents and Phi Mu sorority. Her platform is “Changing the Lives of Children through Reading.”
  • Mary Danielle Havens, a sophomore journalism major from Ozark, is sponsored by her grandparents. Her platform is “Volunteerism in America.”
  • Kathryn Hobgood, a junior biology major from Semmes, is sponsored by her friends and family. Her platform is “Domestic Violence.”
  • Tyler Looney, a senior elementary education major from Sylacauga, is sponsored by Sigma Gamma Rho sorority. Her platform is “Passion for Pets.”
  • Lauren McClung, a sophomore math education major from Elba, is sponsored by her parents. Her platform is “Fighting for a Cure—Cancer Research.”
  • Megan Picklesimer, a sophomore broadcast journalism major from Chelsea, is sponsored by her family and Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. Her platform is “Today’s Kids, Tomorrow’s Leaders.”
  • Morgan Rhodes, a junior biology major from Troy, is sponsored by her family. Her platform is “Students for Organ Donation.”
  • Jennifer Sewell, a senior athletic training major from Cottonwood, is sponsored by her parents and Kappa Delta sorority. Her platform is “Working with ‘Special Citizens.’”
  • Chelsea Shlam, a freshman nursing major from Ozark, is sponsored by her family. Her platform benefits the American Cancer Society.
  • Caitlyn Wade, a sophomore broadcast journalism major from Opelika, is sponsored by Chi Omega sorority. Her platform is “End the Silence: Raise Your Vote.”
  • Marjorie Yessick, a freshman nursing major from Northport, is sponsored by her family and Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. Her platform is “Heart Gallery Alabama.”
