TROY—A Troy University faculty member has been tapped to serve on one of the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s primary committees.
Dr. Fred Green, coordinator of sport and fitness management and the University’s faculty athletic representative, was named to the executive committee of the NCAA’s Division 1A Faculty Athletics Representatives.
“Troy University is extremely proud of Dr. Green for the recognition he has received by his peers in the Faculty Athletic Representative field,” said Dr. Jack Hawkins Jr., the University’s chancellor. “His election to this national post is a ‘high-water mark’ for Troy University.”
A faculty athletic representative is a member of the faculty at an NCAA-member institution who serves as a liaison between the institution and the athletics department, and serves as a representative of the institution in the conference and NCAA affairs. A FAR routinely ensures academic integrity in the athletic department, looks toward student-athlete well being and helps promote institutional control over the athletic department.
“I am proud to represent Troy University and the Sun Belt Conference nationally with other FARs from the bowl subdivision institutions. I am truly honored,” said Dr. Green.
