Memorial service set for history professor Nathan Alexander set for Aug. 24

A memorial service for Dr. Nathan Alexander, a member of the University’s history faculty, will be held at 5 p.m., Aug. 24 in the Claudia Crosby Theater on the Troy Campus.

Dr. Alexander passed away in May after an extended battle with leukemia. He was 41.

He is survived by his daughter Elisa; parents, Steve and Sandra; sisters, Rachel and Sarah; and a brother, Andrew.

Dr. Alexander joined the Troy University faculty in 2005.

Formerly of Bremerton, WA, Dr. Alexander was a 1990 graduate of the University of Washington. He spent his junior year studying at Oxford University in England.

He later obtained his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1999 and served as a lecturer in Harvard’s Department of History and Literature for four years.

Members of Dr. Alexander’s family will attend the memorial service, and faculty, staff and students are encouraged to join this celebration of his life.
