DOTHAN—Troy University’s Dothan Campus will host the first ever Dothan AIDS Walk on Saturday, Oct. 17, sponsored by Montgomery AIDS Outreach.
MAO is a non-profit AIDS service organization that maintains an office in Dothan. MAO provides services to AIDS/HIV patients as well as prevention and education programs.
“Our first Dothan AIDS Walk event will be a great opportunity for members of the community to learn more about our services and get more information about AIDS and HIV,” said Wanda Helms, manager of the Dothan MAO office.
Money raised through the AIDS Walk will support the direct care of patients in the Wiregrass.
The AIDS Walk will be held on the Harrison Walking Trails located behind Malone Hall. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. and the event will conclude at noon.
Teams and sponsors are still being accepted for the event. Individuals are also welcome to take part in the walk, Helms said.
