MONTGOMERY—Members of the Troy University Montgomery Campus Advisory Council elected the group’s first officers during a meeting earlier this month.
Russell Tyner, President and CEO of Baptist Health, will serve as the council’s chairman and Jim Byard, Jr., Mayor of the City of Prattville, will serve as the chairman-elect.
Both were elected during the Advisory Council’s meeting on Oct. 19.
“Russ Tyner will provide invaluable guidance and leadership not only to this council, but to me personally and this campus,” said Ray White, Vice Chancellor of the Montgomery Campus. “Jim Byard has been a longtime friend and supporter of TROY and is a proven leader of a fast-growing and progressive city. We are proud to have him as part of the Advisory Council and in a leadership role.”
Tyner joined Baptist Health as President and CEO in 2004. He has more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience and holds a Bachelor of Arts in communications/journalism from the University of Alabama.
Byard is currently serving his third term as Mayor of Prattville where he previously served on the city council. He is a graduate of TROY’s Montgomery Campus where he majored in political science with a double minor in Business and Sociology.
The Montgomery Campus Advisory Council is composed of local business and community leaders who provide advice, guidance, support and advocacy for the Montgomery Campus. The group held its inaugural meeting in July.
