TROY, Ala.—Shaw Environmental and Infrastructure, a Fort Rucker prime contractor, will conduct a briefing on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at Troy University’s Dothan Campus.

The event, “How to Qualify as a Fort Rucker Subcontractor,” will be conducted in room 203 in Adams Hall from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. and will provide potential subcontractors, including all construction contractors and vendors/suppliers of construction materials, an opportunity to meet with Shaw’s procurement and construction management team.

The free seminar is aimed at helping companies better understand FAR requirements and Shaw’s procurement policies as they pertain to performing maintenance construction work at Fort Rucker, according to Judy Callin, a consultant with the TROY Small Business Development Center, which is co-sponsoring the seminar.

Topics will include:

  • Navigating the subcontracting requirements of the FAR;

  • Better preparation to be competitive on construction bidding;
  • Review Shaw’s scope of work preparation, and RFP preparation; and

  • Review Shaw’s bid evaluation and selection process.
  • A Procurement Technical Assistance Center representative will also discuss the registrations necessary to become a federal government contractor as well as the services provided by TROY’s Small Business Development Center and the Troy University Procurement Technical Assistance Center.
