Erika Epding crowned Ms. Venus at Troy University

TROY—Erika Epding, a freshman broadcast journalism major from Enterprise, was crowned as the winner of the 2010 Ms. Venus Pageant at Troy University on Tuesday night.

Epding received a crown, a banner and a $150 book scholarship from the Troy University Alumni Association. A member of the Student Government Association’s Freshman Forum and Kappa Delta sorority, Epding will be featured at the University’s Spring Alumni Reunion events on Saturday.

Twenty-two contestants took part in the pageant, which was held in the Claudia Crosby Theater on the Troy Campus.

Peyton Dismukes, a sophomore broadcast journalism major from Selma and a member of Kappa Delta sorority, was first runner-up and received a $100 book scholarship from the Alumni Association, while Allison Reynolds, a sophomore management major from Auburn and a member of Phi Mu sorority, was second runner-up and received a $50 book scholarship. Carri Johnson, a sophomore nursing major from Opelika and a member of Kappa Delta sorority, was the People’s Choice winner.
