Wiregrass businesses can learn to write effective proposals for federal government

TROY—Troy University’s Center for International Business and Economic Development and the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to help Wiregrass businesses learn effective practices to develop federal government proposals.

“Effective Federal Government Proposal Preparation Methods & Practices” is scheduled for 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. July 28 on the University’s Dothan Campus. Sponsored by the Alabama Procurement Technical Assistance Program, the cost of the one-day seminar is $20.

Participants will receive two hours of instruction followed by six hours of scenario-based training, said Judy Callin, a consultant with the Troy University Procurement Technical Assistance Center.

Topics covered include:

  • Breaking down a solicitation;
  • Developing a proposal preparation outline;
  • Coordinating proposal sub-parts for completion;
  • Writing the technical volume;
  • Writing the past performance volume;
  • Completing the costing volume;
  • Conducting in-process review meetings; and
  • Pulling together the proposal.

Jerry Ellison, a seasoned business leader and consultant with years of experience in securing and managing government contracts throughout the nation, will lead the workshop.
