TROY Dothan Campus to offer course on coping with dementia, Alzheimer’s

DOTHAN—An upcoming course at Troy University’s Dothan Campus will provide assistance and information to individuals or families caring for older adults who are coping with dementia or Alzheimer’s.

The course will help participants learn to recognize the mental and physical changes in older adults suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s and how to plan for future care. The course will cover various care options, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities and home health.

David Morales, a certified trainer from the State of Alabama Department of Mental Health, Bureau of Geriatric Psychiatry, will be the instructor.

The course will be taught in three parts on Oct. 19, 21 and 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Dothan Campus Continuing Education Center. Registration is $29 for the entire series or $12 for individual sessions.
