Phenix City Schools superintendent to address TROY graduates

PHENIX CITY-Dr. Larry E. DiChiara, superintendent of the Phenix City School System, will deliver the keynote address to graduates at Troy University’s Phenix City Campus during fall commencement on Saturday, Dec. 18.

The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. inside the Columbus Civic Center. About 250 students will receive graduate and undergraduate degrees this fall at the Phenix City Campus.

Dr. DiChiara has served as superintendent in Phenix City for seven years. He was previously the assistant superintendent of the Lee County School System and was the principal at Loachapoka Elementary School for two years.

He taught for a decade at Loachapoka High School where he coached the varsity boys basketball team to state championship wins in 1988 and 1989.

Dr. DiChiara has also worked as an adjunct professor at the Phenix City Campus since 2000, teaching courses in education and educational leadership.

He holds bachelor’s, master’s and a doctorate degree from Auburn University.
