TROY—A Troy University student has become just one of 10 athletic training students nationwide to be named to a steering committee

Alisha Tolbert, a sophomore from Wetumpka, will join the National Athletic Training Association Students’ Committee in order to provide voice for students within the athletic training community, said Dr. Amanda Andrews Benson, who chairs the University’s Athletic Training Education Program.

“The committee promotes learning about issues impacting the profession, gives the students an avenue to engage in volunteering and it allows them to take a stand on matters impacting students in the present and future,” she said.

Tolbert and the committee will be responsible for oversight of the organization’s Deloss Brubaker Student Writing Award, implementing annual meetings and events for student members; increasing student membership, volunteering and promoting annual meeting attendance; providing information to student athletic trainers about the field; and promoting the professional socialization of athletic training students.
