Marietta to deliver commencement address to Troy University graduates

ALBANY -- Albany Mayor Pro Tem Roger B. Marietta will deliver the keynote address to Troy University graduates during the University's commencement ceremonies for its Albany Site on May 21.

The ceremony, set for 10 a.m., will be held at the Mount Zion Baptist Church on South Westover Boulevard in Albany.

Marietta was elected as City Commissioner for Ward 4 in 2007. He also serves on the Dougherty County Board of health and the Albany Aviation Commission.

Since 1992, Marietta has served as an associate professor of political science at Darton College in Albany, where he teaches American government, state and local government, global issues, public administration and leadership development. He is a former mayor of the city of Fayetteville, Ga., and served as a supply officer in the U.S. Navy from 1977 to 1982.

Marietta holds a master's degree in political science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Troy University, headquartered in Troy, Ala., operates four campuses in Alabama and some 60 locations in 15 U.S. states and 12 countries outside the United States and one U.S. territory.
