Troy University statement on off campus student arrests, 6-22-11

An off-campus social event hosted by the Troy University chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity resulted in 52 arrests by the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board early this morning. About half of those arrested appear to be Troy University students.

Troy University's alcohol policy prohibits the consumption of alcohol during off-campus student group activities unless in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Following the events of early this morning, June 22, 2011, the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity has been temporarily suspended effective immediately pending further investigation. Troy University is committed to providing a safe and productive educational environment for our students, and the Division of Student Services will work closely with authorities to investigate this matter.
