PHENIX CITY—Dr. Glen Cannon, the president of Chattahoochee Valley Community College, will deliver the keynote address to Troy University graduates during a joint fall commencement ceremony for the Phenix City Campus and the Columbus/Fort Benning Site on Friday, Jan. 20.
The event will start at 7 p.m. EST inside the Columbus Civic Center. About 370 students are set to receive graduate and undergraduate degrees during the ceremony.
Dr. Cannon became president of CVCC in July 2011. He has nearly 30 years of experience as a senior administrator at Georgia technical colleges, including 15 years as Vice President of Administrative Services at Central Georgia Technical College in Macon. He also served as the president of the Georgia Administrative Services Council, and served on the Governor's steering committee for the realignment and revision of all of Georgia financial and operating systems.
Before coming to CVCC, he was the Vice President of Administrative Services at DeKalb Technical College in the metro Atlanta area.
Dr. Cannon holds a B.B.A. degree in accounting from West Georgia College, an M.B.A. from Mercer University's Stetson College of Business, and an Ed.D. from the University of Georgia. He is also a licensed CPA.
Dr. Cannon and his wife Penny are originally from the West Georgia area, and now reside in Phenix City.
