TROY – Troy University Public Radio will hold its Fall Fund Drive October 12-19 with an on-air goal of raising $20,000 to support the programming offered by the network.

The network's overall goal is to raise $50,000 by the end of the year.

The network, which provides coverage in Alabama, Georgia and Florida, is bolstered this year with a new transmitter providing a stronger digital signal for its HD listeners in the Auburn and Greenville areas, as well as suburban north Montgomery. A new tower in Dothan will provide enhanced services for listeners in the Wiregrass, southwest Georgia and the Florida Panhandle.

"Our Fall Fund Drive is held to acquire new friends of Troy University Public Radio and acknowledge their tax-deductible financial support," said Buddy Johnson, director of Troy University's Broadcast and Digital Network. "As a non-commercial, non-profit entity, Troy University Public Radio depends on contributions from our listeners, businesses and organizational friends to help meet the ever rising costs of programming."

The network offers world, national and regional news, arts and cultural programming on 89.9 FM Montgomery/Troy, 88.7 FM Dothan, 91.7 FM Columbus/Phenix City. Hybrid Digital service, available free to listeners with HD radios, also includes three additional HD channels, BBC World News Service, Classical Music and Jazz along with regular station programming.

The contributions from listeners, businesses and organizations are used by TROY Public Radio to purchase programming. Thanks to listener support, several new program are joining the station’s lineup this fall, including “Splendid Table,” “Fresh Air,” and “Ray Murray’s Jazz” on Saturdays, and “Backstory with the American History Guys” on Sundays.

During the membership drive Troy University Public Radio will host special guests from across the coverage area to share their stories and show their support for public radio. Membership Drive Challengers are businesses, organizations, and individuals, who help lead the fundraising effort by matching listener contributions up to a set amount.
