TROY — Troy University partnered with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s “Toys for Tots” campaign as a community service project in conjunction with the University’s Salute to Veterans football game against the Naval Academy on Nov. 10. The Marines’ Toys for Tots Foundation is a non-profit organization authorized by the U.S. Marine Corps and the Department of Defense to provide fundraising and other necessary support for the annual “Toys for Tots” program. This program provides joy and a message of hope to less fortunate children through the gift of a new toy or book during the Christmas season. “The Troy University family helped brighten the holiday season for many children within the Pike and Montgomery county areas by participating in this project,” said Derrick Brewster, assistant dean of students. “Many of our students, faculty and staff members donated a toy or provided a monetary donation to this worthy cause. The project was a complete success, and as a result, over 500 children in the Pike County area will receive toys from this worthy effort.”
