Pike Road's Mayor Stone will address TROY graduates in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY — The Mayor of Pike Road, Gordon Stone, will deliver the keynote address to Troy University graduates during the summer commencement ceremony for the Montgomery Campus on Monday, July 29.

The ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. inside the Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts. More than 150 students will receive degrees this summer at the Montgomery Campus.

Stone has been Mayor of Pike Road since 2004 and was previously a member of the Town Council. As mayor, he has helped guide the development of the fast-growing municipality and has played a lead role in the initiative to start a school system in the town.

Stone also serves as the Executive Director for the Higher Education Partnership, the advocacy organization for Alabama's 13 public universities, representing more than 150,000 voters on the university campuses. The Partnership hosts the state's largest annual advocacy rally in Montgomery.

He also serves as the Executive Vice President for the National Young Farmer Educational Association.

Stone holds a bachelor's degree from Auburn University and a Master of Business Administration from Auburn University Montgomery.

He and his wife, Ellen, have two daughters.
