TROY - Troy University will honor the nation's military during its nationally televised football game against Louisiana-Monroe on Oct. 31 in Veterans Memorial Stadium. Kickoff for the game is set for 6:30 p.m., which will air live on ESPNU.

Since 2000, the University has designated one home football game near Veterans Day to honor both current and past members of the armed forces.

“Troy University is proud to have served the men and women of the United States military for more than 60 years," said Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor. “We have graduated thousands of military men and women and have thousands of current students or alumni serving in harm's way. We are proud of their service and pleased to be able to honor them and celebrate their service in this way."

TROY's Sound of the South Marching Band will present a special military tribute during its pre-game show, including the performance of the service song for each branch of the military.

TROY will offer $8 general admission tickets for all active duty and retired military members. Tickets can be purchased online at TroyTrojans.com by using the promo code TROYMAG or by calling the TROY ticket office at 1-877-878-WINS.

Troy University has a long history of service to the military and is consistently ranked among the top military friendly institutions by organizations such as gijobs.com and Military Advanced Education. One of the newest support efforts the University has undertaken is the creation of the Troy for Troops Center, a one-stop center for military students to access University services and problem resolution.

During last year's Salute to the Military game, the University announced the endowment of two TROY for Troops scholarships, benefitting dependents of U.S. military men and women killed in the line of duty. Donations to the TROY for Troops scholarship fund can be made by contacting the Office of Development at 334-670-3108 or online at the “Support TROY" link on www.troy.edu.
