TROY, Ala. - The Troy University Athletics Department is saddened to announce the tragic passing of football student-athlete Jadarius Garner, who died near his hometown of Clarksdale, Miss., on Thursday, Jan. 2.
"This is a terrible tragedy and our thoughts and prayers go out to Jadarius’ family in this time of grief," Troy football head coach Larry Blakeney said. "Jadarius was a well respected member of our football team and his loss will be felt by all of us."
Garner, 20, just completed his second season with the Trojans after transferring to Troy from Jones Community College in Mississippi. He appeared in all 12 of Troy’s games this past season and was named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 9.Read More
The Troy University family is saddened to learn of the death of TROY freshman student Kristin Fuller, 18, of Luverne, earlier today, as the result of an incident in Crenshaw County. That incident remains under investigation by the Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Department.
The University extends its most sincere sympathies to the Fuller family during this difficult time.
A Troy University student, 19 year-old Taylor Driggers, of Brantley, has been arrested and charged with manslaughter by Crenshaw County Sheriff's Department. Driggers signed with TROY to play football in Feb. 2013, but he has yet to join the team. It was anticipated that he would join the team in the spring or summer of 2014.Read More
