TROY - Troy University graduate and professor Dr. Kelli Cleveland will be featured on the Lifetime Television program "The Balancing Act" on Monday, Aug. 18, to discuss how adults can balance work and family while pursuing a college education.
Dr. Cleveland, an assistant professor in the School of Nursing, was also a member of the University's first graduating class for the Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2011. She also received her master's and bachelor's degrees from TROY.
On the program, Dr. Cleveland reflects on balancing work and family while pursuing her doctorate degree and how TROY's online learning options helped make the process easier.
"The online delivery system is really the only way that I could go back to school," Dr. Cleveland said. "Working fulltime and having kids, there was really no way that I could go to class. So the online delivery system made going back to school possible, and the faculty members really understand the needs of adult learners."
Now in its 6th year, "The Balancing Act" strives to help today's modern woman balance it all by bringing them positive solutions to enrich and empower them. The show airs at 6 a.m. CDT/7 a.m. EST on Lifetime.
Dr. Cleveland said that she enjoyed being able to represent TROY on a national platform.
"It was a great experience," she said. "I'd never done anything like that before, but the people were very friendly and made me feel comfortable. The host (Olga Villaverde) said that she is interested in going back to school herself, so it was great to just have a conversation with her about TROY."
Dr. Cleveland's segment is scheduled to rebroadcast later in August.
