TROY - Troy University and the Ma-Chis Lower Creek Indian Tribe will host the tribe's 2014 Pow Wow Oct. 17-18 near Trojan Arena.
On Friday, Oct. 17, the "Honoring our Heritage" Pow Wow will host its School Day and allow area schools to attend the event, and on Saturday, Oct. 18, gates will open at 9 a.m. to the general public. The Grand Entry is at noon. Admission to the event is free.
Educational and cultural events are scheduled throughout each day and visitors will have the opportunity to see colorful dancing, traditional regalia, sample Native American foods and enjoy entertainment by Native Americans. Authentic arts and crafts will be available for purchase, and food vendors will be on site, said Herbert Reeves, dean of student services who is coordinating the event for the University.
