TROY alumnus inducted into Alabama Military Hall of Honor

Troy University alumnus and retired Army Col. Burnie Quick of Columbus, Ga., was recently inducted into the Alabama Military Hall of Honor on the campus of Marion Military Institute.

Quick, a 1963 MMI graduate and a 1965 graduate of TROY, was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served wo tours in Vietnam as a Rifle Company Commander in the 25th and 1st Infantry Divisions. He received the Silver Star for bravery in both tours.

He later successfully commanded an infantry battalion and brigade in the 3rd Infantry Division in Germany, before retiring in 1994 after 28 years of service.

Established by Gov. George C. Wallace in 1975, the Military Hall of Honor recognizes the state's military heroes. The hall is housed at Marion Military Institute's Old City Hall Building. Each inductee is honored with a bronze bas-relief plaque.
