TROY - Dr. Mark Tillman has been named dean of the College of Health and Human Services at Troy University.
Tillman has served as the interim dean of the college since 2014 and previously chaired the Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion.
"Dr. Tillman has demonstrated his leadership abilities during his time as interim dean and his dedication to student success in his role as professor and department chair," said Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor. "These are exciting times in the College of Health and Human Services as we launch the Ph.D. in sport management this fall, and Dr. Tillman is the right leader to take the college into a new era of success."
Tillman earned both bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Florida in engineering mechanics, specializing in biomechanics, and completed a doctorate in health and human performance with a specialization in biomechanics in 1999, also at Florida.
Before joining the TROY faculty in 2013, Tillman served as associate professor in applied physiology and kinesiology at the University of Florida. He also has taught at Stetson University.
Tillman is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, the Southeast American College of Sports Medicine, the American Society of Biomechanics, the International Society of Biomechanics in Sport, the Order of the Engineer and is a distinguished member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
