TROY – The Troy University Symphony Band will present its "MASTERWORKS" concert at 7 p.m. on Tuesday Sept. 29 in Claudia Crosby Theater on the Troy Campus.
This year's concert features the "British Band Classics" of the wind band literature, including Gustav Holst's "First Suite in Eb" and "Second Suite in F." The symphony band will open its performance with F. Vaughan "Toccata Marziale" and "Flourish for Wind Band," said Director of Bands Dr. Mark Walker.
"We are extremely pleased to offer this free performance to the public. Our students have prepared well and are excited to showcase their talents," he said. "This is a rare opportunity for band music enthusiasts to hear these pieces performed in the same program."
Percy Grainger's masterpiece, "Lincolnshire Posy" will round out the program, which is expected to last about an hour.
