Montgomery Director of Public Safety Christopher Murphy to address TROY graduates

MONTGOMERY - Montgomery Director of Public Safety J. Christopher Murphy will deliver the keynote address to Troy University graduates during the fall commencement ceremony for the Montgomery Campus on Dec. 14.

The ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. in the Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts. More than 200 students are expected to receive degrees this fall at the Montgomery Campus.

Murphy was appointed as director of public safety by Mayor Todd Strange on Oct. 1, 2010. A Birmingham native, Murphy earned an undergraduate degree in criminal justice from Auburn University and a master's degree in the administration of criminal justice from Troy University.

Murphy is a graduate of the FBI National Executive Institute and has completed leadership and specialized training at John Hopkins University and New Scotland Yard. He currently is a member of the Naval Postgraduate Executive Leaders Program at the Center for Homeland Defense and Security.

Murphy and his wife, Nancy, have three adult sons.
