Media Advisory: Rosa Parks Museum Atrium to honor Montgomery family

Saturday, April 22, 3:45 p.m., Rosa Parks Museum Atrium: A special news conference will take place in the Atrium of the Rosa Parks Museum at Troy University Montgomery detailing the naming of the museum’s atrium in honor of Charles Cahn Baum and the Baum family.

Reared in Montgomery in a prominent Jewish family, Charles Baum graduated from Princeton, Harvard Business School and the University of Maryland Law School. A resident of Baltimore, Md. for most of his life, he had a passion for civic and philanthropic causes, always maintaining his devotion to Alabama. He died in 2015.

Available for interview will be: members of the Baum family; Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor; Dr. Felicia Bell, director of the Rosa Parks Museum; and the keynote speaker for the dedication ceremony, Mr. David Shapiro, Chief Executive Officer of Mentor, the national mentoring partnership.

The news conference precedes the naming ceremony at 4:30 p.m. in the Gold Room, located on the second floor of Whitley Hall. A reception will follow the ceremony at the museum.
