Alvin Diamond, Jr.
Instructor of Biology
Director of the Troy University Arboretum
Alvin Diamond joined the Troy University faculty in 1988 as Director of the Arboretum. He received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Troy University and his master’s degree in systematic botany from Auburn University. He has also completed coursework toward a Ph.D.
Mr. Diamond has published articles on native plants of southeast Alabama and the Gulf Coast Plain and has presented programs on the wildflowers of Alabama and Georgia. His research has focused on understanding of the distribution of plant and animal species.
He is a member of the Southeast Alabama Audubon Society, the Flora of Alabama Committee, Alabama Wildflower Watch, Alabama Academy of Science and the Southern Appalachian Botanical Club.
He has provided plant and animal identification for the Alabama Poison Control Centers, Alabama Cooperative Extension Service, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Alabama Forestry Commission and the Georgia Parks Department.
