Dr. Kenyon Knapp
Assistant Professor of Counselor Education
Assistant Professor of Counselor Education Kenyon C. Knapp joined the University in August 2002 as assistant professor and director of the school counseling program at Troy University Dothan. In January 2005, he assumed a similar role on the Montgomery campus.
Dr. Knapp earned his doctorate in counselor education from the University of Mississippi in 2001, a master of science degree in community counseling from Georgia State University, a master of science in Christian psychological studies from the Psychological Studies Institute in Atlanta, and his bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Taylor University.
Dr. Knapp specializes in school violence, sexual addictions and issues related to children and teenagers. In addition to his tenure at the University, he has also served on the faculties of Mississippi State University and the University of Mississippi. He has served on the staff of region mental health agencies and was a family social worker in the North Carolina school system. From 1996 until 1998, he was director of men’s ministries at the American Family Association.
He is a National Certified Counselor, a Licensed Practical Counselor in both Mississippi and Alabama, and a (Mississippi) Certified School Counselor.
