Dr. Lawrence Lovik
Professor of Economics

Dr. Lovik is currently Holder of the Adams Bibby Chair of Free Enterprise at Troy University in Troy, Alabama. Previously, he has served as the Provost of The Troy University System, in which he helped lead and manage a global organization with programs in the Pacific, Europe, as well as in Washington, D.C. and several states. Holding the academic rank of Professor of Economics, Dr. Lovik has also served as Dean of the Sorrell College of Business at Troy University. He also implemented the Center for Economic Education at Troy University and previously served as the first Director.

In addition to teaching at the University level, Dr. Lovik has taught economics and management in programs designed for the American Institute of Banking, the Insurance Institute of America, and the Department of Defense. He is a past president of both the Georgia Association of Economics and Finance and the Alabama Association of Higher Education in Business. Dr. Lovik served a term as Chair of the University System of Georgia Regents' Advisory Committee on Business Administration, Management, and Economics. In 1987 he was named a Sam M. Walton Fellow because of contributions to free enterprise education.

Dr. Lovik received the B.A. in economics and mathematics from Mercer University, the M.A. in economics from the University of Georgia, and the Ph.D. in economics from Georgia State University. Dr. Lovik has undertaken additional studies through fellowships received from the Chicago Board of Trade, the American Leaders Fellow Program of Shavano Institute, the Foundation for Economic Education, and the Mortgage Bankers Association of America. He has also received training in the area of mediation and conflict resolution and is a certified mediator.
