Dr. Michael Stewart
Professor of Biological and Environmental Sciences
Dr. Michael Stewart is a Professor of Biological & Environmental Sciences and the ALFA Eminent Scholar of Environmental Management and Agriculture. He has a B.S. in Zoology from Ohio University, an M.S. in Biology from the University of Cincinnati, and a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech. He has university, government, industry, and environmental advocacy experience. Coming to Troy University from a government research post five years ago, Dr. Stewart was an Aquatic Research Ecologist for the National Park Service and the U.S. Geological Survey. His research interests are in aquatic systems, especially regarding biological integrity (health), candidate and rare species research, and environmental assessments. Dr. Stewart teaches the Research course in the Department, Environmental Assessment, Environmental Toxicology, and Sustainable Development. He can provide lectures on Sustainable Development, Global Warming, and Decline in Biodiversity.
