Dr. Lance E. Tatum
Associate Professor of Sport and Fitness Management
Dr. Lance E. Tatum is associate professor of sport and fitness management and chairman of the Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion in Troy University’s College of Health and Human Services.
After earning both a bachelor of science degree in physical education and recreation and a master of science in foundations of education from Troy University, Dr. Tatum earned his doctor of philosophy in physical education from Florida State University. His doctoral training includes sport law, facility management and personnel management and he has concentrated his research efforts in sport law, sport ethics and sport marketing.
He first joined the University’s full-time faculty in 1998 as an assistant professor after having served as an assistant professor of physical education at Gordon College in Barnesville, Ga., where he served as head coach of women’s fast-pitch softball. He has also served as assistant director of aquatics at Troy University.
Dr. Tatum is the University’s faculty athletics representative to the National Collegiate Athletic Association, and has served on various NCAA, conference and University-level athletic committees.
