Dr. Malavika Nair | Assistant Professor of Economics
Expertise: Financial history; monetary theory; private enterprise
Dr. Malavika Nair is an assistant professor of economics and a member of the faculty of the Manuel H. Johnson Center for Political Economy in Troy University's Sorrell College of Business.
Her research focuses on questions related to monetary theory, financial history, private enterprise in money production and financial services as well as the economics of caste. Her research is published in The Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, Journal of Business Ethics, The Independent Review, The Review of Austrian Economics, and the Quarterly Journal of Austrian Economics.
Dr. Nair received her bachelor's degree in economics in 2004 from Pune University in India, her master's in economics in 2006 from Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics in India and her Ph.D. in economics in 2012 from Suffolk University.
Prior to joining the TROY faculty in 2013, Dr. Nair taught at the College of Charleston.
