Actor and Director Tim Reid challenges participants of the ninth annual Leadership Conference Celebrating Black History Month to work to build character within the younger generation. Reid, known for his roles on television series such as “WKRP in Cincinnati,” “Simon to Simon,” “Frank’s Place” and “Sister, Sister,” delivered the keynote address at the conference’s closing session at Troy University on Saturday. The conference, co-hosted by Troy University and the City of Troy, annually brings together civic and community leaders, clergymen and business leaders in a collaborative and education forum.

 

 

 


 

Reid urges Leadership Conference participants to help build character in youth

Today’s young people need the support and guidance of their elders. That was the message actor and director Tim Reid left participants of the ninth annual Leadership Conference Celebrating Black History Month with during the event’s closing session Saturday afternoon at Troy University.

Troy University and the City of Troy, annually brings together civic and community leaders, clergymen and business leaders in a collaborative and education forum.

Reid, owner of New Millennium Studios, is perhaps best known for his role of disc jockey “Venus Flytrap” on the television series “WKRP in Cincinnati,” and has also appeared in starring roles in the series “Frank’s Place” and “Sister, Sister.”

Three inducted into National Band Association Hall of Fame at Troy University

The National Band Association’s Hall of Fame of Distinguished Conductors at Troy University inducted its three newest members today during a luncheon in the Hawkins-Adams-Long Hall of Honor on the Troy Campus.

The association also installed, in a surprise move, an honorary president: Dr. John M. Long, Troy University director of bands emeritus and chairman of the board of directors of the National Band Association.
