| Eric Sattelberg’s parents, Vern and Sharon Sattelberg, pin the bars on their son during his commissioning as a second lieutenant on Friday on the Troy Campus. Eric’s brother, Ryan, an Army staff sergeant serving in Iraq, was able to take part in the ceremony over the Internet via satellite and delivered the traditional first salute to his brother. The satellite broadcast was made possible by Freedom Calls Foundation, a New York-based, non-profit foundation that allows soldiers in the field to make direct contact with their families on special occasions. |
