Bibb Graves Hall Ceremony

Shovels stand at the ready in front of Bibb Graves Hall Saturday on the Troy Campus for a ceremonial groundbreaking of a major renovation of the building. Bibb Graves Hall,  the oldest structure on campus, is undergoing a complete renovation and the addition of some 42,000 square feet to house the Center for International Business and Economic Development and the Confucius Institute at Troy University, the only such Chinese education initiative in the state. Local officials joined with the University to break ground on a 42,000 square foot addition and complete renovation of the Troy Campus icon building Bibb Graves Hall. (TROY photo/Kevin Glackmeyer) Troy University Chancellor Jack Hawkins, Jr. on Saturday called Bibb Graves Hall a place “where the traditional and the transformational will intersect” during groundbreaking ceremonies for the first major renovation in more than 30 years. The renovation will add more than 40,000 square feet to the building, including a new wing along the back of the building that will house the University’s Center for International Business and Economic Development and the Confucius Institute.

The oldest structure on campus serves as the centerpiece of the University academic quad.

Dr. Guohua Yan, director and consul of education for the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Houston, represented the Confucius Institute at Saturday’s ceremony.
