TROY – The Troy University Alumni Association will present a joint holiday market and Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 5 at the Alumni House. The holiday market will take place at the TROY Alumni House, located on the corners of George Wallace Drive and Highland Avenue, with vendors on hand from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Along with many other holiday items, the 2012 Troy University ornament featuring the new Trojan Arena and the newest edition of the Troy University Cookbook will both be on sale. A Christmas tree lighting ceremony will take place at 4:30 p.m. Attendees will enjoy hot chocolate and Christmas cookies as they watch the tree being lit. The tree will be decorated with lights in honor or in memory of sponsored individuals. A list with the names of each individual will be read aloud during the ceremony. “The Christmas tree lighting ceremony is a great way to honor friends and family,” said Faith Ward, director of alumni affairs. “You can use a light for any purpose, from recognizing those in the military, remembering family members who are no longer here, or honoring someone who has been influential in your life.” Lights can be purchased from the TROY Alumni Association for $5 before Dec. 4. For additional information, contact the Office of Alumni Affairs at 334-670-3318.
