TROY -- Dr. Kathryn M. Hildebrand has been appointed Dean of the College of Education at Troy University. Prior to joining the University, she was Assistant Vice Provost at Northern Arizona University, where she previously was the Assistant Dean for College of Education. She served as a faculty member and department chair at Fresno Pacific College. “Dr. Hildebrand’s experience and passion for teaching excellence will serve our students at Troy University well,” said Dr. Jack Hawkins Jr., Chancellor. “We are pleased to welcome her to our University and know she will play a significant role in training excellent teachers for our schools. One of the most important things we do at TROY is hire good people and we have hired a winner in Dr. Hildebrand.” Dr. Hildebrand received her undergraduate degree in psychology and a Master of Science Degree in Education from Stanford University. She earned a doctorate in physical education: curriculum and instruction from the Florida State University. While a professor at Northern Arizona, she earned meritorious ratings for teaching, scholarship and service, and as assistant vice provost oversaw 18 undergraduate and 34 graduate-level programs university wide, including all the programs falling under National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) accreditation. As assistant dean, she led the effort to achieve NCATE accreditation for the college. “I believe that my experiences and skills will enable me to effectively lead the College of Education at Troy University to new levels of excellence,” she said.
