TROY -- Troy University’s Concert Chorale and Collegiate Singers will present their fall choral concert at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 27 at Troy’s First Baptist Church. The concert is free and open to the public. The Concert Chorale, the University’s select auditioned choir comprised of 34 students, will perform sacred music composed by Copland, Purcell, Duruflé, Mendelssohn, Finzi, and Poulenc. The ensemble’s conductor is Dr. Diane Orlofsky, professor and director of university choirs. Senior Music Education major, Noel Davis of Eufaula will be guest conducting one selection. The Collegiate Singers, conducted by Laura Mixon, will perform works in a variety of genres and styles, from Baroque compositions to African-American spirituals. “We are excited about the variety of choral music that will be showcased on this evening,” Dr. Orlofsky said. “We are committed to offering choral music that both engages the audience and challenges and educates the students. The ‘something for everyone’ phrase I use so often is an apt description of these choral showcases. I would encourage everyone to come and support these talented singers.” For more information about the concert, contact the John M. Long School of Music at (334)-670-3322.
