Who can be my proctor?

Troy University has approved several proctor options for you to choose from. Please see our Proctor Options page with detailed descriptions of each approved proctor option. This will help you understand the different types of proctors available and which choice is best for you.

How do I find a proctor in my area?

Please view the Proctor Options page to determine which proctor options are available for your course. If you are unable to use the remote proctor device or ProctorU, you will need to search your area for a third-party testing center.

How many proctored exams will I have in my course?

You will only have one proctored event in your course. Your instructor will decide which quiz or test will be proctored and let you know at the beginning of the term.

What information do I need to put on the proctor form?

If you choose "testing center" as your option, you will be asked for your proctor's name, email, phone number, and location. The other options do not require you to enter any additional information.

When do I need to sumbit my form?

As soon as possible (the form is always available beginning the second week of the term after the add/drop period ends). If you choose a testing facility, your proctor will not receive your exam information until your form is processed by eTROY. This means you cannot schedule an exam with your proctor until your form is submitted and approved. Proctoring locations book up quickly during peak times. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO MAKE PROCTORING ARRANGEMENTS.

How long does it take  for eTROY to process my proctor form?

Please allow at least 24 hours and possibly as long as 72 hours during peak times.

How do I know if my form has been approved or denied?

You will receive a confirmation email when your form is approved. If your proctor is denied, you will receive an email from eTROY explaining why your proctor doesn't meet the requirements. At that point, you will be asked to find a new proctor and resubmit your form.

I made a mistake on my proctor form/I need to submit a different proctor. How do I change my form?

Just resubmit a new form with the correct information. The new form will replace the form you previously submitted.

Where can I purchase the remote proctor device or a webcam?

The remote proctor device can only be purchased through MBS, the online bookstore. A webcam is also available for purchase on MBS, although you may also purchase a webcam from any retail store. All MBS proctor items may be found in a separate course listing titled "AAA Proctoring Items."

When will my proctor get my exam information?

If you are an undergraduate student, your exam information is automatically emailed to your proctor by eTROY as soon as your proctor form is approved. If you are a graduate student, your exam is sent by eTROY graduate testing staff shortly before the exam is scheduled to open.

What do I do if my proctor doesn't receive the exam information?

Please contact eTROY testing staff from our Contact Us page.

I am an overseas military student, and none of these options are available to me. What do I do?

We are glad to make arrangements for military students in special situations. If none of the usual proctor options are available to you, we will allow you to use an officer with a rank of O-3 or higher to act as your proctor. Please email eTROY staff with the details of your situation via the Contact Us page.

I am having problems taking the exam with my remote proctor device. Help!

Please submit a help ticket right away so our educational technology staff can contact you to resolve the problem: http://helpdesk.troy.edu

What is an MFAT or MAPP exam? Can you tell me what my score means?

The MFAT and the MAPP are standardized tests that measure academic progress, and they are required for graduation. eTROY only processes requests for these exams - we have little information about what is contained in the exams or how they are scored. Please talk to your instructor and your academic department about your MFAT and MAPP scores.

Why is eTROY requiring proctored exams?

eTROY is committed to providing high-quality distance learning programs for its students. Proctored exams maintain academic integrity and ensure fairness. In addition to preventing dishonesty in exam-taking, a proctored exam is a good way to verify that the student is the one doing the course work--something the federal government requires distance learning programs like eTROY to demonstrate.
