Prior to Commencement

  • The Troy Campus University Records Offices must be notified if you plan to attend the commencement ceremony.
  • Cap and Gowns
    • All graduates other than those receiving military commissions through Troy University’s Air Force ROTC Program or the Army ROTC Program must dress in appropriate academic regalia to participate in commencement exercises.
    • Orders for Caps and Gowns may be placed in person with the Troy University Bookstore in the Trojan Center during Grad Fest. Grad Fest dates and times will be provided via TROY email. Any graduate unable to attend the Grad Fest may call the Bookstore at 334-670-3223 or e-mail the Bookstore at sm096@bncollege.com to order their caps and gowns.
  • Grad Fest
    • Personalized Announcements, name cards, class rings, and graduation frames may be ordered during the Grad Fest in the Bookstore. Personalized Announcement orders need to be placed at this time to ensure proper delivery.
  • Honors Cords
    • Only authorized honor cords, or medallions may be worn with the cap and gown at commencement. These are ordered through your Honor Society.
    • There are no cords for graduating with honors; this will be announced at the commencement.
    • NO Social Sorority or Fraternity sashes may be worn.
    • Decoration of the Mortar Board IS NOT Allowed.
  • Commencement Tickets
    • Tickets may be required to attend the commencement ceremony. Details regarding commencement tickets will be provided via TROY email.

Day of Commencement

  • Participation
    • You will not be able to participate if you have not met all the requirements for graduation.
    • You may not be able to participate if you have not notified the Troy Campus Records Office of your intent.
  • Chancellor’s Reception
    • Parents and graduates are invited and encouraged to attend a coffee at the Chancellor’s home the morning of commencement.
  • Line-Up
    • All graduates should report to the Practice Basketball Court, Event Level of Trojan Arena.
      PLEASE BE ON TIME to make sure you get all instructions.
    • Line-Up is for the graduating students only. No children, spouses, etc. allowed.
  • Dress Attire
    • Please dress appropriately. Women should wear dark, low heeled shoes and men should wear dark dress shoes, dark socks, and dark dress pants.
  • Photographs
    • Each graduate will be professionally photographed as he or she is awarded the diploma cover by Chancellor Hawkins. The photographer will provide additional information during the preliminary assembly.
  • Streaming Video
    • Family and Friends who are unable to attend the commencement ceremony may watch through Troy University’s live video coverage. The web address for the live coverage is http://troy.edu/live.
  • Parking
    • Parking is limited in the Trojan Arena Parking lot.
    • Troy University’s Shuttle Service will be providing services to and from the Chancellor’s Reception and Commencement.
    • Shuttle services are available to all graduates, their family, and friends.
    • Graduates, family and friends are encouraged to park in the Sartain Hall Parking lot and utilize the shuttle services available.
  • Personal Property
    • Please DO NOT any bring personal items (purses, cameras, cell phones, etc.) with you to the Practice Basketball Court, Event Level of Trojan Arena.
    • University Personnel WILL NOT be held responsible for your personal property so please make other arrangements for your valuables.

Please note that we do not hold a ceremony for summer graduation. If you graduate in the summer, you may participate in the fall ceremony.

Prior to Commencement

  • Attend Commencement Central. If you do not attend Commencement Central, you must contact the Registrar's Office for alternate instructions.
  • Submit a Diploma Information Form to the Records Office.
  • Honor Cords may be worn by members of on-campus honor organizations only. Check with your advisor on how to obtain cords.

Day of Commencement

  • All graduation requirements must be met in order to participate in the Commencement Ceremony.
  • Arrive at the Dothan Civic Center by 2:15 p.m.
  • Professional pictures will be made from 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
  • Come dressed in Commencement regalia.
  • Master's candidates will be hooded during the ceremony.

  • The Undergraduate & Graduate Records Offices must be notified if you plan to attend the commencement ceremony. If you are a student from another campus and would like to participate in our commencement please contact the Student Services Office at 334-241-9533.
  • Cap and Gown Order - You must order your cap and gown from the Bookstore or online at www.Balfour.com.
  • Honor Cords – Only Undergraduate Students are eligible for honor cords. Cords are provided at graduation. Please Note: Both undergraduate and graduate students are able to wear any cords that are earned through membership in various societies.

Day of Commencement

  • You will not be able to participate if you have not met all the requirements for graduation. You will not be able to participate if you have not notified the Undergraduate or Graduate Records Offices of your intent.
  • All participants need to arrive at 6:00 p.m.
  • Please do not bring purses, cameras, or cell phones. The dressing room will not be secured during the ceremony so please make other arrangements for your valuables.
  • Hairpins / bobby pins will be provided to secure mortarboards.
  • Masters candidates, do not wear your hood to the facilities, you will be hooded during the ceremony.
  • All children must remain under the supervision of an adult at all times.
  • Please dress appropriately. Women should wear dark shoes and men should wear slacks and dark shoes.
  • Dressing area is for the graduating students only. No children, spouses, etc. allowed.
  • After Commencement Diplomas will be mailed to those students who do not participate.

Prior to Commencement

  • The Academic Records Office must be notified if you plan to attend the commencement ceremony. If you are a student from another campus and would like to participate in our commencement, please contact the Phenix City Records Office at 334-448-5109.
  • Cap and Gown Voucher - You must pick-up your cap and gown voucher from the Student Services office in the Adams Administration building in order to purchase your cap and gown. This is one way to ensure that the Records office will know that you are planning to participate in the ceremony.
  • Honor Cords - Honor cords are only available to undergraduate candidates. Cords are available for purchase from the book store. Please Note: Both undergraduate and graduate students are able to wear any cords that are available to them through membership in various societies. If you are a member of an honor society, you are welcome to wear your cords with your cap and gown.

Day of Commencement
