Academic Year Program

The Academic Year Program is an important component of the Upward Bound experience. Throughout the school year, the counselor/academic advisor and/or the coordinator visit each participating school once a week. The purpose of the visits are to meet with Upward Bound students to discuss academic and personal aspects of their lives as well as administrators, school counselors and/ or teachers.

Tutorial services are conducted every Monday and Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Upward Bound Office. Students have an opportunity to receive one-on-one or small group tutoring.

In addition, they assist the students with college planning, the college application, and financial aid processes. The seniors are taken on college tours. The students are required to attend Saturday sessions and workshops.

The Upward Bound newsletter is sent to each participant indicating important dates and events, student accomplishments throughout the school year, and news updates. This newsletter also keeps the parents informed of program events and the successes of Upward Bound students.
