Over the past two years, due to the tremendous support of the Troy University community, our Student Government Association has been sending TROY for Troops t-shirts to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan who have a TROY connection. Due to feedback from our Trojan warriors, we are beginning a new initiative to support our troops - Troy University coins, as coins are popular collector's items with service personnel.
Brian Embry, a former SGA senator and Iraqi war veteran, developed the TROY for Troops coin, which is now on sale. Cost is $10 and orders will be taken now. We expect shipment by mid-September/early October. Profits from this sale will buy coins to send to our service men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan. Coins are an inch and a half in diameter.
Here's how to order:
- Those on the Troy, Dothan, Montgomery, or Phenix City campuses should mail a check ($10 for each coin) to Troy University SGA, Trojan Center 215 Troy, AL 36082. Enclose a note, with your name, e-mail address, phone number, and Campus Location. When we receive the coins, we will ship to a central location on each campus where you may pick up the coin. When we ship the coins to your campus we will notify you by e-mail the name of the contact person who will distribute the coins. Make your check payable to Troy University SGA.
- If you are not on one of the Alabama campuses please send a check ($13 for each coin to cover shipping/handling costs). Include your name e-mail, phone and mailing address to send the coin to. Make your check payable to Troy University SGA.
We are not able to take e-checks or credit cards.
If you have a loved one currently serving in Iraq or Afghanistan, please e-mail us their name and address and be sure to send us your name. We will send them a coin and indicate that you requested that a coin be sent to them. Coins will be sent in late September/early October.
