As part of this mission, a subject-specific and performance-based assessment, known as edTPA, is part of the program. This assessment is used to emphasize, measure and support the skills and knowledge future teachers will need in the classroom. Today, edTPA is being used by more than 700 educator preparation programs in 38 states and the District of Columbia.
