TROY -- Troy University’s Department of Theatre and Dance will play host to the Walter Trumbauer High School Theatre Festival for the Alabama Conference of Theatre Dec. 4 -6.
“This event will bring more than 1,300 high school students to the Troy Campus, largely from north Alabama and the Mobile area,” said Adena Moree, director of theatre and associate professor.
The festival will begin with a statewide scholarship audition for high school seniors in acting, and in technical and design fields. A panel will select three recipients for the scholarships. There will also be representatives from across the state acting as scouts, choosing students for call backs and interviews.
“These events will be held all over the campus,” said Moree. Acting, musical theatre, play writing, stage management, and design events will be among the activities.
The Trojan Center will be used for an ensemble competition, the Crosby Theatre for “one- act festivals,” and classrooms for other individual events.
