TROY – Tailgate Terrace adjacent to Troy University’s Movie Gallery Stadium normally is reserved for tailgaters and football games. On March 20, it will become the home of the Troy University Relay for Life event.
The annual American Cancer Society fund raiser came on campus three years ago as a way to involve TROY students in the ‘fight against cancer,’ according to Kay Franklin, a community representative for the American Cancer Society.
The city of Troy boasts a large Relay event each year, but because it takes place after the spring semester is over, student groups usually don’t get to participate.
This year, the TROY Relay’s opening ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. Entertainment will continue until 3 a.m. The luminary ceremony begins at 10 p.m.
“There will be three bands along with various other forms of entertainment and activities,” Franklin said. “There’s something that will appeal to everyone.”
