Former Trojan, NFL standout to speak at summer commencement on July 24
TROY – Former pro football player and Trojan standout Lawrence Tynes will provide the keynote address at Troy University's summer commencement exercises, scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, July 24 in Trojan Arena.
Inducted in the TROY Sports Hall of Fame in 2013, Tynes, who was team captain for of the Troy Trojans football team in 1999 and 2000, was placekicker for six seasons with the New York Giants, and holds the distinction as the only National Football League kicker in history with two playoff game-winning field goals in overtime to put the Giants into the Super Bowl. He has been a member of two Giants Super Bowl-winning teams.
Some 350 students representing 25 states and six nations outside the United States are expected to participate in the ceremony.
